Before the foundation of Anor there was a sizeable population of Neran living within it's modern day borders.
Squabbling amongst the tribes and continued infighting ensured development was slow and stagnation a serious problem. The forefathers of House Alduin watched as neighbouring regions grew in unity and strength whilst their own homeland was going nowhere. It is for this reason Alduins forefathers fought to unite the people and lands to form the Nation of Anor. After years of strategic fighting, difficult diplomacy and even arranged marriages, the people of the region finally came together and formed Anor and secured for itself a vast land and border under a King of House Alduin.
THE EARLY AGES
The Nation of Anor was at the height of its power in the early ages of Elyria due to the military might that its armies possessed following unification under a King. However, fear of this might growing even greater ensured continued attacks from other neighbouring regions and slowly but steadily these attacks on many fronts depleted Anors resources and Mann power. Eventually civil war broke out as settlements and noble houses squabbled once again over what remained, this in turn lowered living conditions and was the catalyst for a devastating plague which spread quickly and without mercy wiping out large population centres. All of this combined caused Anor to gradually decline and fracture over the course of the next age and for the King to fall from power, but these events did not destroy it completely.
REUNIFICATION
The current Dukes Grandfather sought the unification of Anor once again at its ancient capital of Dawn’s Reach. There, he retook the royal seat within the Sun Keep, the ancient throne that lies at the heart of the City. Anor’s noble houses who remained loyal to House Alduin rallied to the call, among the first was House Adley, House Inglund and House Silfversvard. To bolster the reunification effort it was decided that House Alduin and House Adley would forever be joined together, and so the eldest daughter of House Adley married King Alduin and since then this tradition has continued.
Through willpower, determination and tapping into the expertise of his loyal subjects the reborn King of Anor succeeded in developing an industrial revolution, new technologies and research allowed the use of new forms of resources aswell as revitalising the old. New trees were planted, new crops were grown, new mining techniques used to extract materials and minerals and within just a few years of the revolution taking place, Anor was a strong and unified Nation once again.
TROUBLE ONCE MORE
Seeing the rise of Anor taking place yet again, the neighbouring regions once more in fear chose to build their forces in what can only be described as an arms race. Determined not to let Anor fall into poverty once again the King of Anor reinforced the borders and using diplomatic channels secured a neutral zone between Anor and it's neighbours disallowing the movement of troops within it. Outposts were constructed as lookouts and for a time a peace, albeit a fragile one reigned.
AL-KHEZAM
But as is always the case, powers, nations, Kingdoms and Empires grow and prosper in many places and it was not long before other powers became known to Anor. Far away grew a Kingdom, a Kingdom expanding it's power and influence faster than had ever been known before, a Kingdom lead by the house of Usifan. The King of Anor knew it did not stand a chance against Al-Khezam and as it's borders came closer to meet with Anors the Grandfather of the current Duke Alduin requested an audience with the King. After many moons of negotiations and after determining that House Usifan was not an enemy but a chance at a peaceful prosperous future, the King of Anor submitted to the King and Anor was absorbed into the Kingdom.
As other neighbouring regions succumbed in one way or another to the Kingdom, the neutral zones were abolished, the borders demilitarised and for the first time in history the regions around Anor grew to become friends rather than enemies as fear gave way to hope and suspicion gave way to trust.
NATION TO DUCHY - KING TO DUKE
The great nation of Anor became the Duchy of Anor (though sometimes it is still referred to as a nation) and the King of Anor became it's Duke. Anor has prospered greatly under Al-Khezam and as generations passed the title of Duke was passed on to Arthuras Alduin, the now current Duke of Anor. Under the wise leadership of Duke Alduin the Duchy moves forward in an ever growing arc towards accomplishment and excellence.
